As long as I’m helping readers find things, here’s a Thanksgiving request that my friend Ben Starling has been bugging me for: Oyster dressing. We Southerners know stuffing as “dressing;” for whatever reason, this particular dressing is a Southern specialty, though I’ve seen mention of it elsewhere.
Do you have a delicious oyster dressing to share? Please contact me either through the “contact” form or by leaving a comment. Seriously: Help me out here - I’ve only eaten this at a restaurant — never at a home dinner.

I don’t know that SE MO is really the South, since the Bootheel and cotton country don’t start until you coast off the Benton Hills, http://www.palmbeachbiketours.com/2008/10/14/new-madrid-earthquake-ride-no-great-shakes/ , but I grew up eating oyster dressing.
In fact, I’d rather have the dressing than the turkey.
I’m not sure if Lila adapted my mother’s version or if it came as part of the marriage package in 1969, but you won’t find any that’s better.
I’ll nudge her to send you her recipe. The only problem might be that she’s one of those “I don’t measure, I just cook” kind of cooks.

A second linguistic thought: dressing and stuffing may be the same thing, but “stuffing” always makes me think of something dry and tasteless, where dressing is moist and rich in flavor.
