Reader DC of Okeechobee wonders:
“At the Okeechobee (city) Publix, why is a gallon of the Publix brand milk $3.79, and a gallon of the MacArthur milk priced at $6.19 (!?!?). I think this is a bit high, especially considering the MacArthur dairy is just down the road. No hurry on the answer – am just curious!”
Jan answers:
Excellent question. . . and geez, loueeze, we thought gas prices were high! (Cheapest around us is on U.S. 1 in Lake Park for $3.75 a gallon – even beats nearby WalMart!)
This will take a bit of research that — I will warn you — will likely result in both Publix and MacArthur Dairy stonewalling me. But we’ll see…watch for an answer here when I get it!

I buy the Lactaid milk and have noticed that the price has increased dramatically. Not sure why, but it was somewhat sticker shock for me the last time I bought a gallon.
