January 19th, 2011 · 1 Comment

Chocolate Decadence's Mix and Melt baking contest open to all amateurs

Are you a frustrated baker who thinks your over-the-top chocolate dessert is better than anything in a restaurant? Take note of the Mix and Melt contest for amateurs (adults only) that’s part of the 10th Chocolate Decadence, a food and wine event put on by the Junior League of Boca Raton.

The event will be Feb. 3 in the courtyard of Shoppes at Boca Center, and judged before the event opens to the public. Cooks can make anything choose featuring chocolate as the primary ingredient (the more chocolate, the better). It must arrive intact and ready to taste by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Chocolate Decadence site. Judging begins promptly at 4:45 and winners are announced immediately following.

Bakers will be judged on best taste and best presentation and the grand prize awarded to best overall. Contestants are urged to be creative with their dish and its presentation.

Winners will receive one free ticket to the Chocolate Decadence event; the grand prize winner get one VIP ticket. The entry fee of $25 is donated to the Junior League for community outreach work, listed on the event site.
