Truly, either is appreciated. Money requires less handling (they have to spend money in order to transport the foods, sort them, and then distribute them -- and money can go toward items they need we can't see, such as truck tires or refrigerator repairs at the Daily Bread facility. A great deal of food is donated by the major supermarkets and food companies - but this is a way to bring it home, individually. That you can give a grocery bag full helps point out that what we consider a simple purchase for only one family may help so many others.

Here's something I've been wondering about: Is it more helpful to these organizations if I go out and buy non-perishables and bring them to a food pantry, or would they really just prefer the money? Especially at this time of year?
