EatBeat: BurgerFi Shows Haute Burgers Still Hot

February 1st, 2011 · No Comments

A number of not-fast-food-burger joints have opened in South Florida in the last year or so – several recently, showing this trend isn’t over just yet.

The latest is from restaurateur David Manero, owner of Vic and Angelo’s pizzerias in Palm Beach Gardens and Delray Beach, and The Office, an American grill, also in Delray. He’ll open BurgerFi in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea next Monday with partner Lee Goldberg.

They’re aiming for a return to the classic American burger stands of the ’50s and ’60s, Manero said in a press statement. A “hip, urban design” created by his spouse, Lynn Manero is part of what is planned to be a franchised business across the nation.

Burgers are natural Angus beef patties, cooked on a flat-top griddle, offered with 20 sauces and toppings. For vegetarians, a separate grill is used to cook the veggie burger – a mix of quinoa, brown rice and mushrooms.

Hand-cut fries, natural frozen custard, Chicago-style beef hot dogs, and house-made cupcakes are on the menu. Craft beers, Boylan’s naturally sweetened sodas and organic wines also will be available.
