Most chocoloholics already know about the Festival of Chocolate this weekend at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

For those who don’t: Get set for two days of everything chocolate.

A host of vendors will offer “decadent” chocolates (their words), chocolate desserts and candies – priced from $1 to $5. Note that a special Chocolate Chip coin must be used for purchases – get them in $1 increments when you arrive to spend throughout the venue.

Local vendors include Shocolaate of West Palm, Schakolad Chocolate Factory of Davie, Ooh La La Crepes of Wellington, Popsycakes of Deerfield Beach, Chocolates by Mr. Roberts of Boca Raton, the Cupcake Cottage of Royal Palm Beach, Dove Chocolate Discoveries in Boca Raton, Brownie Brick of Coconut Creek, Cute as a Cupcake, West Palm Beach, Sheila G’s Brownie Brittle, of West Palm Beach, the Candy Cottage of Plantation, Ladybug Cake Creations, West Palm Beach, Sloan’s, West Palm Beach, the Sugar Chef, West Palm Beach, along with others.

Chef contests include the Chocolate showpiece competition and Best of chocolate competition on Saturday; and a Wedding cake decorating competition Sunday.

For fest-goers, there are game shows including brownie bingo, wine pairings – yes, wine goes with chocolates – and activities like cookie-stacking contests.

Wealth of classes

From kids’ classes on making healthy chocolate creations, to making a mini-chocolate showpiece, you can get in on some serious classes with some masters of chocolates and confections. Create flowers from chocolate, use cocoa butter transfer sheets, decorate cupcakes, create perfect chocolate truffles, make edible fondant seashells and more.

Seats are limited in each class; classes are priced individually – check the schedule for classes both days.

The event has been held before in Tampa and Orlando; this is the first time it’s coming to West Palm Beach.
