EatBeat: Field of Greens Moves to Downtown at the Gardens

August 15th, 2011 · No Comments

Locally owned Field of Greens, the build-your-own-salad spot, has moved from its Midtown spot to one in the revitalized Downtown at the Gardens.

The Lakow family-owned business that began in 2003 at CityPlace serves up meal salads, sandwiches, soups and wraps. They specialize in vegan and vegetarian offerings, including the new Spicy black bean salsa veggie burger topped with fresh mango and avocado. All items on the menu can be made vegetarian.

At the new space, homemade vegetarian chili is on the menu ($2.95 for a cup). Or, you can get it over tortilla chips with the works in a Fiesta Chili Bowl or on a baked potato in the Chili Potato. They will make a huge batch for your next game party off their catering menu.

Also new is the Pulled Pork Havana sandwich served with Swiss cheese and onions on a pretzel roll, and a BBQ Chicken Quesadilla on a whole wheat tortilla.

Owner Debbie Lakow said in a press release, “The new, expanded menu infuses bold new flavors, many that have been immensely popular as daily specials at our CityPlace location.”

As with all other locations, diners can build their own salads for $8.25, choosing from among 60 items and 20 dressings, including gluten-free types. Prices range from $5.95 for a scoop of prepared egg, tuna, cicken or Waldorf chicken salad on a bed of greens to $7.95 for the sandwiches, and $8.95 for a Red Hot Buffalo Chicken salad.

Coffee and dessert are offered at the Gardens location for those looking for a quick bite.
