EatBeat: Latin Fest Spices up Northwood Village Saturday

September 30th, 2010 · No Comments

West Palm Beach’s Northwood Village, around 23rd-25th streets west of Dixie, will be salsa-fied when the Latin Fest hits this Saturday night.

The Hispanic Chamber of Palm Beach County hosts the first Latin American Food and Wine Festival here, with Latin-inspired foods, dancing, performers, art and more. More than 10 local restaurants will provide foods, paired with wines from Argentina, Chile, Spain and other regions.

Havana's Pargo Entero Frito

Favorite restaurants – Havana, Casa Cuba, La Reina and others are cooking up specialties to serve fest-goers, and other “friends of the chamber” eateries such as Talay Thai will put a Latin spin on their cuisines. Hispanic artwork displays will ring the area, and business booths will have giveaways and information about their work.

Chamber president Andre Varona says that fest-goers might be surprised to learn that being Hispanic isn’t a requirement for joining the chamber — thus a number of restaurants and businesses participating support the Hispanic community, though they may be of a different culture.

Along with the Chamber, Northwood Village and Mass Mutual are sponsors.

The event is from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are $25 (includes souvenir wine glass).
