Jan Norris: Food and Florida

TV food personality Trevor Corson will be at the Morikami Museum in Delray Beach on Thursday night to teach his audience the fine points of sushi: ordering and eating the Japanese seafood specialty.

Corson has some chops behind him:  Known as the “Sushi Concierge” on the Food Network, and an Iron Chef judge, he’s the author of The Secret Life of Lobsters, and The Story of Sushi: An Unlikely Saga of Raw Fish and Rice. He’s worked as a lobsterman in Maine and lived in Asia for several years.

A respected author and lecturer

Corson’s got an impressive record as a writer for the New York Times, the Atlantic Monthly and a host of other publications, and studies science, philosophy and foreign affairs. He’s able to bring in all the issues of fishing and eating seafood, raw and otherwise, in his lectures.

This year, he’s up for an award from the Seafood Choices Alliance for bringing awareness to the public of sustainable fishing and ocean preservation.
