A bistro-lounge is how Richard Addicott describes his new spot, Mara, in the old Jetsetter Lounge in Lake Worth.
Addicott is a high-profile caterer and private chef who’s most recently come from South Beach. His reputation for Barton G’s, Lowe’s and others comes with him to the Dixie Highway property.
With business partner Michelle Nowosatko, he’s created a space that can be used for a catered event, as well as a lounge open for Gentlemen’s Night on Wednesday, Ladies Night on Thursdays and parties on weekend nights.
“We’re still getting a feel for the area. Right now we’re doing a menu I call ‘In the Beginning,'” he said. “It’s bistro-lounge foods based on what I call world-fusion. Electic.”
Grilled flatbreads, kebabs and skewers including a number of vegetarian options, sliders (Angus beef, pulled pork, chicken) are among offerings he’s still working on. “It’s a fluid menu right now – we’re still playing with different items.”
An example is the coconut-curry chicken satay, served with Thai chili sauce. “It’s a balance of savory, sweet, hot and cool – it hits on the whole palate.”
They’re catering private parties already at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens and expect to do others around the area as they become known.
Right now, Mara’s is open Wednesday through Sunday – they’ll likely do a “Mara Lately” open from 2 to 4 a.m. for late-night bites and nibbles, he said.
