EatBeat: Opus 5 Sold, Nunzio’s Closed

July 21st, 2009 · No Comments

Boca Raton’s Opus 5 ,  the fifth restaurant that local restaurateur Burt Rapoport opened, has been sold to Lirim Jacobi.

Jacobi sees potential in the “eatertainment” business — dining with some kind of entertainment alongside. He has seen success with Taverna Opa! – a Greek-style eatery in CityPlace that features belly dancers and music late-night. Right behind it is Wild Ginger, described as an “Asian bistro,” and nearby, also in CityPlace, CityPizza — a casual Italian eatery.

Jacobi plans to add a disc jockey to the late-night scene at Boca’s Opus 5, but otherwise, maintain the core of its food and atmosphere, according to spokeswoman Sharon Levinsohn. He’s also planning another Taverna Opa! in Miami’s Dolphin Mall.

Rapoport, a long-time restaurant owner in the county, recently closed the casual Clematis Social in downtown West Palm Beach after a run of only six months.  He currently operates Henry’s in Delray Beach and Bogart’s Bar and Grill in the Muvico Theater in Boca.

Nunzio’s (the former Beefeater’s) in West Palm Beach, has closed. No further details at this time…La Fogata, the Mexican restaurant on Northlake Boulevard in North Palm Beach, has recently undergone an interior update, brightening that space and updating the decor. It’s now open for breakfast.
