EatBeat: Pinon Grill in Boca Now Open

New in Boca, next to Bloomindale’s in the Boca Town Center, is the American eatery, PiƱon Grill. It’s a stylish spot for upscale casual favorites from the new American menu, with some interesting twists.

We sampled a number of foods on a recent tasting trip – the coconut-lobster ceviche was an early favorite.

Starters include grilled artichoes, kobe sliders, and a smoked beef brisket quesadilla that was notable. We all liked the Santa Fe chicken soup as well as the she-crab bisque, and the stacked tomato salad with fresh mozzarella was delicious with fresh tomatoes and a piquant drizzle of aged balsamic vinegar.

Another winner was the grilled salmon salad – a Nicoise preparation with green beans, roasted red potatoes, roasted corn, kalamata olives and a Dijon vinaigrette. Crab cakes were quite good, as was the grilled tuna burger – served with an Asian slaw – a top side standout is the peanut and ginger cole slaw. Mac ‘n’ cheese lovers will find the jalapeno mac and cheese quite tasty. Other burgers and Kobe beef sliders as well as a pressed BBQ beef brisket sandwich are here.

Entrees include a number of steaks and fillets, baby backs, lobster penne pasta with brie sauce, a braised beef ravioli with wine mushroom sauce, roast chicken with Key lime sauce and more.

Stunning interior

Entrees range from $16 to $32; soups and salads start at $8.

The full bar is a beauty, with a wine wall and lounge seating along with high tops and patio seating.

The earthy brown and gray interior features commissioned pinon tree sculptures and a number of Southwestern textiles from Native Americans as well as art glass installations.
