EatBeat: SoLita Coming to Delray in Former Kyoto Space

January 10th, 2011 · 1 Comment

SoLita, the sexy restaurant-lounge affair from Las Olas in Broward, will take over the former Kyoto restaurant in Pineapple Grove by March, according to owner Steven Dapuzzo.

“The space is beautiful and really lends itself to what we do,” Dapuzzo said.

The Italian restaurant with a hot lounge scene on the weekends is something that’s needed in Delray Beach, despite the many good restaurants already there, Dapuzzo said.

“It’s a place for grown-ups to come and hang out,” he said. “Delray is a very active market with a nice demographic, and although there are already a lot of great restaurants there, we don’t see us as a competitor. We’re offering good dining, with a fun late-night lounge.”

The Kyoto space, about 4400 square feet, has a separate lounge area which adjoins the main room, perfect for the weekend crowds that come for music and the lounge scene, he said.

The menu and special nights for live music, with DJ’s late night, will mirror that of SoLita on Las Olas.

“We’re bringing all the things that people love about SoLita to Delray – we think the concept will work great here.”

Dapuzzo is making an encore in the restaurant scene in Delray Beach – he was formerly with Taverna Eros on Atlantic Avenue.

Went by this morning – looks like they are ready to open any minute now. Maybe even today for all I know.
