The best part of summer from a diner’s viewpoint is the specials offered by restaurants that miss the full dining rooms that come with snowbirds.

Take advantage of these discount meals and specials while they last.

South county:
Mia’s Grill has a 4-course meal for $20 with a choice of five entrees like the churrasco skirt steak or wood-fired grilled chicken breast. 2399 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton; 561-338 6388

The Pop-Up in Delray Beach (a temporary Italian restaurant) has a Locals Only special for the remainder of its run. Everything on the menu is 2-for-1 – drinks, apps, entrees and desserts, from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. The menu changes daily.

Prime in Delray Beach has a $75 dinner for two, Sunday-Friday, 4-8 p.m.  Salad, entrée and dessert, plus a free bottle of wine. 110 E. Atlantic Ave; (561)-865-5845.

In downtown West Palm Beach, here are several choices:

  • Longboards Restaurant, a new bar and eatery, has 2-for-1 happy hour drink specials and 20 percent off all food, from 4-7 p.m. daily through Sept. 30. 519 Clematis St., West Palm Beach; (561) 833-4660.

Cafe Boulud offers a BYOB Tuesdays – bring your own wine – as many bottles as you can carry, for no corkage fee at dinner. Rose′s are served all day Fridays by the glass for $5. Drinks are half-price and menu items $8 at the bar during the summertime Happy Hour, 4-7:30 p.m. daily. North county:

    Glad to hear that Cantino Laredo now has vegetarian options. I went there a few years back and was told even there ranchera (red) sauce was made from a meat base. Now that I know they have a few vegetarian options I will definitely soon!
