EatBeat: Take a Class with American Seafood Champ Dean Max

September 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

One of the hardest working chefs – and most personable – is Dean Max of 3030 Ocean in Fort Lauderdale. The guy runs several restaurants including 3030 Ocean in Fort Lauderdale’s beachside Marriott, the Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada, and one in Ohio. He was recently the winner of the Great American Seafood Challenge in New Orleans (love it that he posed with his son for photos), and still has time to help promote Gulf seafood to help that region recover.

We’ve printed recipes from Max before here – notably, his curry corn soup.

This Sunday, Sept. 26, you can learn from him by taking a class where he’s the instructor at 3030 Ocean; it’s $80 and you’ll get to eat, too. His menu includes Palmetto Creek pork with quince chutney and Anson black rice grits, clams BBLT and fall old-fashioned apple almond tart.

For more information about the class, held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or to make a reservation (required), calling Nicole at 954-765-3129.
