EatBeat: Taste of the West and Taste of Boynton June 3

June 1st, 2010 · No Comments

Fast car needed to hit two fun food events on opposite sides of the county Thursday, June 3.

Taste of the West and Chocolate Lovers’ Festival great for families

At the South Florida Fairgrounds Expo Center, the 13th annual Taste of the West boasts a room filled with aroma from dozens of food vendors, a chocolate cook off and a kid’s cooking class.

From 4:30-8:30 p.m., more than 35 restaurants and caterers offer up food samples and chocolate desserts for guests. Several businesses are on hand with their goodie bags, too.

Kids 5-12 can participate in the Kids Cooking Class taught by Dianne Morin of Marroc Cooking for Kids. Class is free, but they must be pre-registered (call 561-790-6200).

Admission is $15 at the gate – it’s really a steal for these events, since you’ll get that much back in area dining coupons handed out while you’re there.

Taste of Boynton in new digs

At its new locale at Benvenuto on U.S. 1, the Taste of Boynton serves up eats from several local restaurants in a dining-dancing setting. A number of country clubs and restaurants strut their culinary stuff at this event. Make sure you get to the Ocean Ave. Green Market Cafe table, where folks from their community kitchens hand out samples of their fare. (We’re a big supporter of this entrepreneur idea.)

The Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce sponsors this event annually. Its culinary members, including Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, Boynton village Tavern, Benvenuto’s, Cypress Creek Country Club, Jason’s Deli, longhorn Steakhouse, Mamma Mia Trattoria, Shane’s Rib Shack, Slainte Irish Pub, Snappers Seafood, the Westchester Country Club and the Ocean Ave. GreenMarket Cafe are among all those presenting eats.

Cricklewood band performs for dancing from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Tickets are $40 each or $70 for two; or $50 at the door if available. Go to boyntonbeach.org for more info and to buy tickets.

(Benvenuto is at 1730 N. Federal Highway (U.S. 1) in Boynton Beach; call 561-364-0600.)
