Come and join me tomorrow at the South Florida Fairgrounds for the 13th annual Taste of the West and Chocolate Lovers’ Festival.

I’ll be there to judge the “Ace of The Taste” Chocolate Cake Decorating Contest. Four teams of two pastry students from Florida Culinary Institute go head-to-spatula to create fabulous decorated cakes. Definitely worth watching — from 5-7:30 p.m. Yeah it’s a rotten job I have.

Kids’ Cooking Class

This year, Whole Foods Wellington is sponsoring a kids’ cooking class — Dianne Morin does several of these throughout the year at the store, and she’s bringing a chocolate dessert class to Taste of the West. Kids get in free to this fest (adults are $12) and can go home with the dessert (if they don’t eat it first!) and a recipe booklet.  See below to sign up your child by Wednesday afternoon.

There’s also a pie eating contest and tastings from more than 40 restaurants and caterers, as well as showcases by dozens of businesses and services from the western areas of the county, entertainment and more.
