EatBeat: Zach Bell Leaving Cafe Boulud; Breakers to Revamp Former L’Escalier with New Concept

Restaurants continue to change/evolve in Palm Beach. We’ve reported that Trevini would close and the Coniglio family would put in Cha Cha’s, a Latin-Spanish restaurant there.

Recently, we learned chef Zach Bell has resigned from Cafe Boulud; he’ll cook until mid-June at Boulud. Word has it he’ll possibly be going to the Addison Reserve, a country club in Delray Beach in the fall; he’ll spend the summer helping spouse Jennifer Bell at her Sugar Monkey bakery.

Changes at The Breakers

Through The Breakers publicist, Ann Margo Peart, we hear that their fine dining room L’Escalier will close as usual for summer, but will not reopen in the fall. Instead, the resort will remake the restaurant, and reopen with a new concept in 2012.

In a statement, The Breakers president Paul Leone said, “We are extremely proud of the accolades and stellar reviews earned by the entire team over the past few years. Now we look forward to the next chapter, when their talents and hard work will be showcased in an engaging, multi-faceted food and beverage experience of equal quality.”
