Betsy Cohen

Long-time friend (note: never call a woman an “old” friend…) and excellent baker Betsy Cohen is now writing a food blog. It’s all about desserts, because, as she writes, she always considers desserts first.

Cohen, of Palm Beach Gardens, won a spot in one of the cookie contests when I was at The Post for her lovely Nana’s Butter Cookies. Rich with butter and perfectly baked, these jewel-like jelly-filled cookies delighted the judges.

Cohen’s blog is all about the recipes she makes for her family, and as a former professional baker, baked for others Her chatty and friendly style encourages bakers to jump in and get sweet with things like the Pecan Caramel Tart – a perfect Thanksgiving Day recipe, or Ginger Scones, or a good banana bread with pecans.

It’s a work in progress, but Cohen already has a solid foundation of mouth-watering recipes and step-by-step photos in well organized posts. Readers can email her with questions, and she’ll answer, too. We’re keen on those who share their expertise, so hats off to Cohen for a terrific start of something sweet.

I have been a long time friend of Betsy’s too. I was thrilled when she started this blog and I have to say each Tuesday and Thursday, I open my emails with great excitement to see what terrific dessert she has added. I have made some of the yummy creations already and each one is delicious. I encourage many people to hop on board and read her blog. It is terrific.

As a fellow dessert addict I have found my kindred spirit in Betsy! Reading her blog feels like sitting in her kitchen and cooking alongside a dear friend. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. My fork is ready!!

Being the self-proclaimed “chocaholic” I usually pass on anything non chocolate for dessert; BUT, when it comes to Betsy’s desserts I’ll make an exception every time!

To know Betsy, is to love her! She never fails to put a smile on my face. She has ALWAYS excelled in the dessert department. I am thrilled to be able to enjoy her dessert blog and I know she will outdo herself.

Betsy’s desserts are scrumptious! They pick you up on a rainy day, add to your happy days, are the perfect “share with your girl friend” chocolate indulgence, or just because dessert is required in reference to Betsy’s recipes. I am lucky to sample Betsy’s creations, but mostly to be her friend! Her personality is even sweeter than her desserts! Mazel Tov, our friend!
