Stuart: East Ocean Bistro

I went to Stuart today to interview Cliff Burg, of the Burg & Divosta team of house builders. Burg’s a sixth generation Floridian – a delight to talk with. We hit on his new Sunlight Equestrian Ranchettes and polo fields, etc., as well as his juice company that’s rolling out two interesting products — all from Florida-grown juices; his home near Jackson Hole, Wyoming, his houseboat and a wild story about how he gets the chunky 36-foot thing out of the water and up on the bank of the Okeechobee Waterway near his house (go REALLY fast! says he…) and more.

I could have spent all day with him, but instead, joined my new friend Pat Williams for lunch at the East Ocean Bistro instead. Chef Traci S. Mcilwain holds forth over the nice space on Ocean Boulevard. Lunch was easy: Kobe sliders and crispy French fries served in the paper cone. Delicious deli dills to go with the burgers, made with cheddar cheese and nicely done grilled onions (they taste like onions — not a grill). I’m going back to eat something less familiar – the Asian inspired fare looked good, too. It’s open for lunch and dinner and Traci is in the house most of the time.
