Brown Baggin’ It

August 31st, 2008 · 2 Comments

Tired of the same-old, same-old deli sandwiches and tired cold cuts? Check out my new favorite sandwich shop, owned by Leila Kidd — Brown Baggin’ It — in Lake Park on Park Avenue.

Not only do they roast their own turkeys, and roast beef (they’ve got a great kitchen that always smells terrific and is spotless!) but their breads are fresh, and their sides — wonderful and not mushy, or too salty. I especially love their potato salad, but the macaroni salad is also mightly tasty.

They do wraps and vegetariain items, too. Warning: The sandwiches are so big, you’ll have to share them. With a cup of soup, 1/3 of a sandwich would make an ample lunch, so it’s a bargain at $6.95. On Saturdays, tell them Jan Norris sent you, and you can get TWO sandwiches for the price of ONE.

They’re also the friendliest and most helpful folks around. You can eat in at one of the little tables (they’ve done a great job remodeling this bland space– especially with the handmade tables) or take it all out.
