EatBeat: Legacy Place Food and Wine Experience Thursday

April 19th, 2010 · No Comments

Thursday night at Legacy Place in PB Gardens marks one of the last big food and wine events of the season. The Legacy Place Food and Wine Experience benefits the American Lung Association. A number of top restaurants from the area will participate, including the Capital Grille, Cafe Chardonnay, Figs, J. Alexander’s, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, the Melting Pot, Kona Grill, the Ironwood Grille and many others.

This year, they’re featuring a special area where upgraded foods and wines, plus an open bar, will be available to VIP ticketholders.

Whetting your appetite

  • From the Capital Grille, chef/partner Matt Livers will serve Wagyu beef carpaccio, with a mustard oil arugula salad, and crab cakes with homemade tartar sauce at the VIP lounge.  Stoli Dolli martinis are planned for his station.
  • The executive chef at Publix GreenWise Market will prepare roasted cedar plank salmon with garlic and thyme oil, and fresh dill, with a vegan quinoa salad. A New Gewurz Gewurztraminer will be served alongside.
  • J. Alexanders’ executive chef Kevin Clayton will serve an entire meal at his station, starting with crab cakes and Dijon mustard sauce; a chilled orzo and wild rice salad, and a slice of their signature carrot cake.
  • An award-winning roasted beet salad will be featured at the Figs table. Chef Danielle Becker will prepare the salad that has two varieties of beets, a blue cheese dressing and crispy shallots with toasted pecans on top.

American Lung Association benefited me

So much food, so little time! It’s rain or shine, so come out for a good cause – I’m a big supporter of the American Lung Association, which provided information to me for my mother, a lung-cancer patient.  Because of that, when I was asked to be an honorary chairperson for the event, I immediately agreed.

The fine print

Tickets are $50 for regular admission, and $75 for the VIP tent. You can buy them online or from the American Lung Association, 2701 N. Australian Ave., West Palm Beach. Live entertainment from Mo and Sally at KOOL 105.5 FM radio also is on tap. Come casual – this is outdoors in April.

When: Thursday, April 22, 7-9 p.m.; VIP hours, 6:30-10 p.m.

Where: Legacy Place outdoor mall (south of PGA Boulevard and west of Fairchild Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens)

Tickets: regular admission, $50; VIP admission, $75
