Stamp Out Hunger: Hang a Bag of Cans on the Mailbox Saturday

May 7th, 2010 · No Comments

The Help Stamp Out Hunger program returns tomorrow in its 18th year. Hooray for the USPS and the National Association of Letter Carriers for doing this, along with Valpak.

You got a plastic bag in the mailbox yesterday, so here’s the drill: Fill it (and even more bags if you can) with non-perishables, hang it on the mailbox or stick it inside, or bag it up and set it on the ground –  and help hunger relief in our area.

Hunger has no borders

You’ve got to know that with real people, the economy isn’t growing as fast as with the business world.

A lot of people in South Florida are still looking for work — and running out of money to put a roof over their heads or food on the table. In the U.S., that seems nearly criminal. If you’re reading my website, you probably have enough to eat – it’s all about food and dining out. So help someone who doesn’t.

What to hang in the bag?

Canned meats, vegetables, tuna or salmon, canned nuts, canned fruits – boxes of rice, pasta, grains – all are helpful.

Just hang the bag on the mailbox and help feed someone in need. For more information, click here. Thank you!
