Downtown West Palm Beach is set to get several new spots for eats – chains and locally owned spots. Five Guys, the burger chain with several stores in and around Palm Beach County, is poised to open soon. It’s in the 300 block and will be open daily for lunch and dinner.

Fuku has had its sign up for months, with passersby asking when it will open. The modern Asian restaurant and bar/club is also slated to open, in the 200 block, before summer.

And another Asian – this a casual, comfort food spot called Palm Sugar – is also planned to open next month. It’s from the same team who opened the nearby Kabuki restaurant – a more upscale fusion with sushi.

City and Cafe Sweets, a locally owned bakery, is under construction in the 500 block – near the parking garage. Watch this blog for a chat with the owner.

Lake Worth’s coming soon

On Lake Worth’s main drag, look for Pietro’s Plump Tomato and Market, replacing the Miami Subs locale at the corner of Lake Avenue and Dixie Highway. No opening date for it.

That space has had a tough go ever since Michael’s Pub left downtown. Hope Pietro’s has good luck there.
