EatBeat: Restaurant News Roundup – Kubo, Gulfstream Cafe, Dolce de Palma

October 11th, 2010 · 2 Comments

A whirlwind season for restaurants coming (and some going):

Kubo will open this Friday in Crystal Tree Plaza, North Palm Beach. The Asiatic cuisine spot in the former Lanni’s restaurant space in the plaza is still has some decorating left – the plywood covered walls are bare, but the theater kitchen will allow diners to keep owner Roy Villacrusis in sight as he works his artful dishes. Villacrusis hosted a cocktail party Sunday night that offered diners – all seemingly pleased with the food – tastes from the menu. It covers Thai, Filipino, Chinese and Japanese flavor profiles. Sake tastings and cooking classes also are planned. Live entertainment is on tap for weekends in the large courtyard out front…

The Gulfstream Cafe takes over from its former restaurant known as Tavern of Jupiter on U.S. 1 south of Indiantown Road; it opens within the month. From the family of eateries that includes New York Prime in Boca Raton, it’ll offer seafood and steaks at moderate prices. New will be patio dining…

Dolce de Palma has a new menu as of last month (a few Asian inspired foods added) and has great plans for special Tuesday nights – Frank Cerabino, Palm Beach Post columnist, will play the accordion and family dinners representing Italy’s 19 regions will be served. Watch for more on this to come. The restaurant is on Old Okeechobee Road catty-cornered from The Kravis off Parker Ave.

More to come here later this week on all.

Jan, what do you know about “Bonefish Mac” opening in the old Fudruckers in Wellington?

Jan, wasn’t Villacrusis one of the chefs at Mark’s Place in City Place (defunct now) and wasn’t he the guiding hand in the innovative asian inspired foods there? Lets plan an outing to test out this kitchen and lets get a big group to go also maybe with Rand and Scott.
