Tahiti Joe Hosts Hot Stuff at Guanabana’s Thursday

September 30th, 2009 · No Comments

Our own native nut case, Tahiti Joe (Turner), of Tahiti Joe’s hot sauce, is hosting a Tropical Shirt and Hot Stuff night at Guanabana’s in Jupiter Thursday night.

Free food (need I say more?), and some drinks, but the deal is you have to wear a Hawaiian or tropical shirt, and when you get there, ask for Tahiti Joe. He’ll be the one with the hat on with hot sauces all around.

Taste them on food – and you’ll want some

His Mango Meltdown kicks – I think it’s my favorite. But here’s the trick to tasting hot sauces: Eat them on real foods – not just a cracker or with a tasting-spoon. Turner knows this – at his events, he makes chili and chicken and serious nachos or pork for tasting — really good foods that show how a good sauce can enhance different flavors.

Along with the free food, Tahiti Joe “stuff” and drinks (extended happy hour), there will be two 50-50 drawings.

Want a hot sauce recipe? He’s got several on his web site – I recommend the “prize guacamole.”

Guanabana’s a perfect fit

The tiki huts, torches and bamboo with palm leaf decor at Guanabana’s (it’s at the Jupiter Outdoors Center) is the perfect fit for this event. Multi-bars here and music give this tropical restaurant a definite island feel. It’s packed most nights – it’s hugely popular on the north end. I haven’t yet tried it, though I’ve heard it has good fish. Let me know if you have eaten there – and like it, or not.
