This easy pull-apart bread is a party animal – with the bacon and cheese and ranch flavors making it mostly a guy thing.
Recipe, adapted: 1 loaf round sourdough, sliced into cubes as above, but not through to bottom; 1/4 pound bacon, cooked, crumbled; 1/2 cup grated cheese; 1/2 cup melted butter, 1 envelope ranch dressing. Stuff bacon and cheese in the cuts of the bread, then mix the butter and dressing mix and pour over all. Wrap loaf in foil and bake at 350 for 20 minutes; remove foil and bake 10 more minutes or until cheese melts.
Make a sweet one:
The same website that put it out there (plainchicken.com) also had one on there for a cinnamon pull-apart loaf. (I’ve been making something similar for years, using bread dough and baking it from scratch.)
I’d add pecans to it:
This inspired me to come up with another idea for stuffing the bread – using the basics of cutting the bread and stuffing, then baking it in foil as above.
Pull apart pizza bread: Saute some Italian bulk sauage with onions and peppers, pour over the cut bread. Pour marinara sauce over all and top with some shredded mozzarella. Bake as in bacon-cheese bread. Pull apart pizza bread is the result.
Pull-apart pulled-pork bread: (or chicken) – Shred barbecued pork or barbecued chicken; add sauteed onions, and your favorite bbq sauce. Stuff the bread. Add cheese (optional) and bake as above.
Pull-apart Philly cheese bread: Chop up sauteed thin steaks, add grilled onions and peppers if desired, and melted butter over all. Top with cheese; bake.
