The Great Pumpkin! A Round-up of Terrific Pumpkin Recipes on Food Blogs for Fall Cooking

October 27th, 2011 · 3 Comments

I was researching a pumpkin bar recipe the other day, and one thing led to another. I found pounds of great pumpkin recipes on some excellent blogs to share.

Each of the blogs has a bunch of great recipes beyond these listed, so take some time and explore while you’re there. Kudos to my fellow food writers!

Pumpkin Shortbread Bars

Pumpkin shortbread bars from picky-palate.com

Let’s start with those pumpkin bars – the Chocolate and Pumpkin Shortbread Bars. They’re from picky-palate.com – a blog that’s got a super group of how-to photos with each recipe. Love this site for family-style home cooking recipes. She has just posted a Baked Pumpkin Ice Cream Glazed Donut recipe I’m going to try, too.

Naked No Knead Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls from patentandthepantry.com

Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls

No-Knead Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls come from a really fun blog called patentandthepantry.com. I spent an hour noodling around this site – some funny stories here, as well as poignant ones. The photo of her on her home page is terrific.

Pumpkin leche flan from thepioneerwoman.com

I promise you won’t be able to “get just one” recipe from thepioneerwoman.com site. Loved the Pumpkin Leche Flan recipe. All her recipes are top notch and there are hundreds here.

Pumpkin Cream Pie from thepioneerwoman.com

I have to share one more from her: the Pumpkin Cream Pie. A light alternative to the heavy custard type and perfect for Thanksgiving.

Pumpkin chocolate chip bread

Everybody’s got a pumpkin bread recipe, but this adds chocolate and is lighter than the dense breads. It’s from the young husband and wife cooking team at twopeasandtheirpod.com – soon to be three peas. Solid family recipes here and many for parties.

Pumpkin Cheesecake

Check out the pumpkin cheesecake – now a staple on tables all over at Thanksgiving – at the very educational joyofbaking.com. Lessons in baking abound here. Check it out!

Victoria Malmer's Pumpkin Bread Pudding

Pumpkin Bread Pudding

Finally, on my own site, you’ll find this recipe for Victoria Malmer’s Pumpkin Bread Pudding – made with Dunkin’ Donuts offerings. You can use what you want, however (pumpkin bread from above) and it will probably be smashing!

If that’s not quite good enough, try the Amish Pumpkin Whoopie Pies I’m making soon.

Happy fall!

The pumpkin cinnamon rolls look amazing! I tried a pumpkin, lentil, arugula and goat cheese salad last night but I substituted sweet potato ( since I did not have pumpkin handy. Amazing! we ate it hot last night (the sweet potato and the lentils) and enjoying it at room temp for lunch today! lhttp://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Spiced-Pumpkin-Lentil-and-Goat-Cheese-Salad-355212
