New Green Market Debuts at MorseLife Campus in West Palm Beach

November 10th, 2010 · 1 Comment

A green market at a senior life center? Why not? Even seniors, maybe especially seniors, are looking for decent, palatable fresh foods.

Peter Robinson, who started Palm Beach County’s first green market, and who is in his fifth year with Lake Worth’s Oceanside GreenMarket, will host a green market at the MorseLife center next Wednesday – and every Wednesday till season ends.

Between 1-5 p.m., farm-fresh, locally grown product and other healthy affordable foods will be available for employees, residents and the community around MorseLife in West Palm Beach.

Mary Alice Pappas, of the MorseLife Foundation, who is spearheading the effort, says that the green market here is being designed in the style of a traditional European street market.

Keith A. Myers, MorseLife President/CEO, said the GreenMarket is a part of a bigger plan to enhance the wellness of its 800 employees, as well as residents, clients, families and the community.

Already on board

MorseLife works to provide healthful food choices to employees and residents and clients, Myers said; the staff has been re-evaluating all food that is served in its cafeteria, dining rooms, cafe and bistro as well as in its vending machines, and out in the community through MorseLife’ss meals-on-wheels program and the widely distributed Homebound Mitzvah Program.

The GreenMarket will be on the campus of MorseLife, on the grounds adjacent to the Tradition of the Palm Beaches, 4920 Loring Drive, just off Haverhill Road and south of 45th Street in West Palm Beach.  It will be take place every Wednesday from1-5 p.m. starting November 17 and continuing into April.
